
Charles Emery Taylor Jr., 80, of Blue Springs, Mo passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs, MO. on July 23, 2026. Charles was born to Charles E. Taylor Sr. and Loretta B. Taylor (James) in Hamburg, Iowa on July 1, 1946.
Charles was a 1964 graduate of Rockport High School, in Rockport, Mo. After high school, Charles attended Northwest Missouri State University, in Maryville, Mo where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. On August 20, 1967, Charles was united in marriage to his loving wife Carolyn Lee Taylor (Forbis) in Rockport, MO.
Soon after in 1968, Charles joined the United States Army out of Fort Lewis, Washington. Charles is a Vietnam Veteran who served our country proudly and spent 6 years in the Army before moving back to Rockport with his wife. Charles was awarded the US Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service in Vietnam.
For the majority of his professional career, Charles was a Tax Accountant. Charles was a loving family man and wonderful father to his two children Jaime Calhoun (Matt) and Brett Taylor (Erin). Charles was a member of First Christian Church of Blue Springs, MO having served as an Elder and Trustee there. He was a member of VFW Post 6603 Vaughn Hudnall in Blue Springs. Charles enjoyed spending time surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren. Charles served his community well and was able to give a lasting impression on those around him.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Loretta Taylor, his brothers Robert Taylor and Ronald Taylor.
Charles is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughter Jaime Calhoun and husband Matt Calhoun, his son Brett Taylor and wife Erin, including five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 3 step great-grandchildren.
Services for Charles will be a visitation on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at First Christian Church of Blue Springs located at 701 NW 15th Street, Blue Springs, MO 64015. The funeral service will be on Wednesday July 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. also at First Christian Church and following will hold a graveside service at Blue Springs Cemetery.
