Willis “Bill” Joseph Griffin, 85, a resident of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully Friday, September 16, 2022 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO. He was born May 11, 1937 to Joseph and Lucile (Montgomery) Griffin in Paxton, IL.
Bill is a 1955 graduate of Eudora High School in Eudora, KS. He was united in marriage to Martha A. Green on March 21, 1958 in Independence, MO. Bill proudly served in the United States Army Reserves Active Duty. He spent 36 years working as a car salesman and general manager for Galen Boyer Motors, Inc. in Independence, MO before retiring in 2000. Bill was Catholic by faith. He enjoyed cars especially Pontiac and Cadillac. Bill cherished spending time with his family and friends.
Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Martha Griffin of Blue Springs, MO; sisters, Norma Monday of Independence, MO, Patricia Haskell of Blue Springs, MO, Elaine Hayden of Blue Springs, MO, Wanda O’Neill of Tyler, TX, Nancy Spain and husband, Bruce of Lexington, MO; niece, Cathy Campbell and husband Ed of Blue Springs, MO; nephews, Doug Smith and wife Brenda of Independence, MO, Mike Smith and wife Joyce of Blue Springs, MO and several other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lucile Griffin; brothers, Harold and Jim Griffin.
His family will receive family and friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2022 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will follow at the Blue Springs Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Association. Martha I am so sorry to read of Bill’s passing. Had I seen it earlier I would have been there. We loved getting to know you and Bill since we sat so close together at church. We definitely missed seeing you these past few years although I feel fortunate to have seen you both at Dan’s service. Please know that we love you and again you have our deepest sympathy.
