Wanda L. Croasdale, 78, longtime resident of Parkville, MO and active social member of Platte Count y, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013. Wanda was born August 9, 1934 to Charles Jesse and Gladys Margaret (Cooper) King in Kansas City, MO. She attended Southwest High School 1952, University of Kansas 1954, University of Michigan 1956 and completed her teaching degree at Park College in Parkville, MO. On June 25, 1956 Wanda married George Frederick Croasdale at the Broadway Methodist Church in Kansas City, MO. While residing out of state during her husband’s military commitment, she had two children, Debbie and Terry, and in 1960 the family made permanent residence in Platte County, Missouri.
Mrs. Croasdale was ambitious and talented. Wanda was a Spanish and English teacher for the Maple Park Junior High School in Clay County. She later became a travel agent and enjoyed world travel. She was a founding member of the local ladies Patrician Club, member of the Weatherby Lake Sailing Club and she enjoyed a special interest and excitement as President of the Kansas City Symphony Guild. Wanda relished a special opportunity to be a guest conductor of the symphony in 1997. Wanda’s enthusiasm for arts and crafts lead her to become a co-proprietor of the craft shop, “Reed and Slip”, in Parkville, Mo., where she taught beginning and advanced courses in pottery. During her early college years, Wanda became a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and participated as an active alumni member for many years thereafter. Wanda and George became members of the Parkville Presbyterian Church in 1960 and enjoyed the fellowship and support of the church throughout their lives.
Preceding Wanda in death were her parents , Charles and Gladys King; her husband ,George F. Croasdale; and her daughter ,Debbie L. Dahm. Survivors include her son, Terry L. Croasdale and wife, LeeAnn of Oakdale, CA; five grandchildren: Katie (Dahm)Kemp and husband Kyle of Dallas, TX, Jacob Croasdale of Merced, CA, Cameron (Croasdale) Clay and husband Jeff of Davis, CA, Carson Croasdale of Oakdale, CA and Nolan Croasdale of Oakdale, CA; her sister, Beverly (King) Degen of Kansas City, MO; her brother, Charles King Jr. and his wife Sandy of Lake Forest, CA; and two great grandchildren: Hadley Kemp and Rhyen Kemp of Dallas, TX.
A memorial service celebrating Wanda’s life and accomplishments will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Parkville Presbyterian Church, 819 Main St., Parkville, MO, with Rev. Ky Weekley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will immediately follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Parkville, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Symphony Guild or the Parkville Presbyterian Church.
