Virginia M. “Ginny” Scholdberg, 94, a Northland resident and veteran of the United States Navy passed away July 1, 2018 at the St. Luke’s Hospice House. She was born June 24, 1924 in Delaware County, IN the daughter of Dallas and Thelma (Newlee) Garringer.
Virginia served her country in World War II, serving in the United States Navy, where she worked as a clerk typist. She would meet her future husband, Ernest “Ernie” Scholdberg at a USO dance. They married on December 21, 1946.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survivors include her children: Cindy (Morris) Johnson, Carolyn (Randy) Hylton, Terry (Brenda) Scholdberg, and Carl (Lisa) Scholdberg; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral service celebrating Virginia’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville. Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to the service. Committal service with military honors will follow at the East Slope Cemetery, Riverside, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Virgina will be dearly missed, she was loved greatly by so many. I haven’t come across one person with anything negative to say about her, she was always so cheerful, loving,very kind, and most of all a proud veteran of the US Navy!
