Vicki Lynn Porter, 60, a resident of Parkville, MO passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015. Vicki was born December 10, 1954 in Kansas City, MO to Lawrence and Virginia (Camerer) Gray.
Vicki was a 1973 graduate of Park Hill High School. She was briefly married to her high school sweetheart, which resulted in the birth of her first daughter. Vicki was then united in marriage with her soulmate Douglas Eli Porter on May 4, 1980 at the Chapel of the Fountain in Las Vegas, NV. She spent nearly 25 years in computer operations for the airline industry, both in Kansas City, MO and Winston-Salem, NC. Vicki and Doug enjoyed spending time with friends and colleagues, traveling, and playing on a bowling and a dart league while in NC. Vicki loved spending time with her family, especially taking her daughters on beach trips to the NC coast. She was a devoted wife, mother and very proud grandmother.
Vicki was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Eli Porter in December 2009, and both of her parents. She is survived by her four daughters: Jessie Schaffner and husband, Nathan of Manchester, PA; Amber Porter of Parkville, MO; Kristin Porter of Raleigh, N.C.; and Lauri Porter of Kearney, MO; six grandchildren; a brother, Gary Gray; maternal aunts and uncles; her brother and sisters-in-law; and many cousins.
A Committal Service for Vicki and Doug will be held 2:30 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, KS. Those wishing to attend the Committal Service will need to meet at Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville, MO at 1:30 p.m., the cortege will then process to Leavenworth National Cemetery. I was very fortunate to have Vicki in my life for 42 years. Thank you for being able to put up with me all these years. You will truly be missed by all. Thank you for being a great mom to my nieces, Jessie, Amber, Kristen, and Laura. We love you!!
I was very blessed to have known you for the time that I did. You were like a mom to me and I will alway cherish the times we had. I will always love you. You were a wonderful, loving and caring person. And God has a special angle up there with him and I know he is smiling. You my friend will be missed but you will never be forgotten. My mom was an amazing person. She touched the lives of soo many people in her life, and put up with me at my best and worst times. I am lucky to have been blessed with her as my mom. She was a very dedicated grandmother and she will be dearly missed for always. I love you momma!!

Vicki and I knew each other since elementary school. I graduated with her and her first husband. Vicki always had a beautiful smile and the sweetest personality. Although we lost contact after high school, it thrills me that she had a beautiful family and a wonderful life. She deserved the best. Please accept my sincere condolences and prayers.

Vicki was my cousin, but she was more like a sister. We grow up together. I will miss her very much
I had the pleasure of working with Doug & Vicki both and I enjoyed their company on many occasions after work, as well. It was always so fun to be around them and I have many wonderful memories of our time spent together. I feel privileged to have known them both. My heart and prayers go out to their family.
