Vernilda E. Whitebread, 90, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the NorthCare Hospice House. She was born June 20, 1931 in St. Louis, MO to George and Pauline (Schluemer) Uthe.
Vernie graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, MO and spent the majority of her working career as a secretary. She ended her career with the North Kansas City School District, where she was at Winnetonka High School for almost 18 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed square dancing, and camping with family, playing cards, spending time with her dogs, and supporting her children and grandchildren in all their activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Whitebread in 2017; and three siblings: Marvin Uthe, Bernice White and Donald Uthe. Survivors include four children: Cheryl Bramlette, Brenda Shrout (Norris), Robert Whitebread, Jr. and Debbie Tuggle (Dave); nine grandchildren: Heather, Holly, Heidi, Robert, Steven, Connor, Kayla, Sam and Hannah; and 10 great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather for a visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Meyers Northland Chapel Parkville. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Terrace Park Cemetery. Memories of Vernie and condolences may be shared at meyersfuneralchapel.com.
