Spencer Hallam Steenrod, 21, Parkville, MO passed away Friday, June 7, 2013 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Platte County, MO.
He was born February 8, 1992 at the North Kansas City Hospital, the son of James M. and Cindy A. (Stevenson) Steenrod. Spencer was a 2010 graduate of Park Hill South High School, graduated from Northland Career Center in Platte City and worked for the family business, Steenrod Repair Service.
Spencer had a wonderful zest for life. He was a very fun loving, outgoing, giving and very caring person. He had a heart of gold. Spencer enjoyed riding motocross and had a passion for fishing. He had dreams of becoming a firefighter for the Kansas City Fire Department.
Survivors include his parents, James and Cindy of the home; a sister, Brittany Steenrod (Dylan Roy) of Kansas City, North; his maternal grandmother, Jean Myers of Kansas City, North; and the love of his life, Hailey Schmidt of Kansas City, North; two uncles, Ralph (Sherry) Steenrod and Jeff (Michelle) Steenrod, all of Gravois Mills, MO; and numerous extended family and friends. Spencer was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herbert D. Steenrod and Rose Ross.
A funeral service celebrating Spencer’s life will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at St. Therese Church, 7207 NW 9 Highway, Kansas City, MO 64152 with Fr. Joe Cisetti presiding. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Church. Spencer was an organ donor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Midwest Transplant Network or the American Cancer Society. The Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville has been entrusted with the final arrangements. Memories of Spencer and condolences may be left with the family at www.meyersfuneralchapel.com.

Spencer is definitely someone I will never forget. We were never really close but he is someone that even if you’ve only met him once you are sure to remember him. My thoughts go out to the Steenrod family for their loss. I can’t imagine what you are all going through but as you can see you have a lot of people who care about you all and are here for you in your time of mourning. Spencer will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
