Shirlee J. Larsen, 78, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Independence, MO.
She was born May 26, 1942 in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Charles E. and Velda J. (DeNoon) Sharp. She grew up in Newton, KS and graduated from Newton High School and later from Tarkio College.
Shirlee retired from Olin Corporation and later was the Manager for the American Legion Post 21, Independence, MO. Shirlee was active with Mid-America Mensa, BPOE Elks Lodge #26 –KCMO, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, American Legion Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughters, Tammy Thompson, Independence, MO, Sherri Watt and husband David, Lee’s Summit, MO, her brother Norman Sharp and wife Phyllis, Albuquerque, NM, her sister, Charlotte Stephens, Newton, KS, seven grandchildren Brandon Fuller and wife Megan, Amber Kurz and husband Jason, Brett Hoy, Matthew Watt, Brandon Watt, Tyler Watt and wife Sierra, Danielle Poynter and husband David, as well as her great grandchildren Blair Fuller, Isla Fuller, Jude Fuller, Pearl Fuller, River Kurz, Hailey Watt, Paige Watt, Grace Watt, Makenna Poynter, Riley Poynter and soon to arrive baby James Watt.
Cremation has taken place and a come and go gathering time will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main Street, Blue Springs, MO, 64015. Due to Jackson County COVID-19 regulations masks are to be worn at all times. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Shirlee may be given to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO, 64137.
