Sandra “Sandy” Kay Evanoff, 81, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2023, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. She was born November 9, 1941, in Cedar County, Missouri, to Stanley and Virginia F. (Straw) Monger.
Sandy graduated from Turner High School in Kansas City, Kansas, where she was the Kansas state spelling bee champion. She was fiercely devoted to her family and also enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafting, and decorating, especially for the holidays. Sandy was an avid reader and passed her love of reading along as “Story Grandma” for all of her grandsons and their classmates during their elementary school years.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Teddie Evanoff. Survivors include her daughters, Kristina Kay Whiteside and husband, Dennis, of Louisburg, KS; and Virginia Joanne Morgan and husband, Tim, of Blue Springs, MO. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren Andrew, Bradley, Ben, and Denton. She also leaves behind a brother, Stan Monger and wife Wanda, of Shawnee, KS, as well as niece and nephews Stacey, Brett, and Jeff, and their families.
Private graveside services and urn placement will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Blue Springs Cemetery, with Pastor Roger Horne officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Blue Springs South High School Swim Team or Wayside Waifs. Arrangements entrusted to Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs. This is harder than there are words to even describe. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. I have learned that the more you love, the bigger the hole left in your heart. So you know now how much you each were loved.
