Roy Dale Loyd, 63, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023. He was born January 23, 1960 in Kansas City, MO to John and Betty (Duncan) Loyd. They preceded him in death.
Roy attended schools in North Kansas City and later from the Northland Career Center. He spent the majority of his working career as a supervising maintenance engineer for Marriott Hotels. In his spare time, Roy enjoyed watching the news and listening to talk radio. In earlier years, he was an accomplished chess player and enjoyed traveling.
He married Dawn Bishop in May of 1991. She preceded him in death on November 5, 2010. In addition to Dawn and his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Loyd. Survivors include two children, Jennifer Boudreaux and husband Robert of Platte City, MO and John Loyd of Independence, MO; a brother, Russell Loyd; a sister, Vickie Hundley; and two beloved grandchildren, Alexys Loyd and Simon Boudreaux; and three step grandchildren.
Cremation has been entrusted with the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association. Memories of Roy and condolences may be shared at Meyersfuneralchapel.com.
