Rosemary Gordon, 88, of Lee’s Summit, MO, formerly of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully Friday, December 27, 2013 surrounded by her family. Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 am, Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at St. John LaLande Catholic Church, 805 NW R.D. Mize Rd., Blue Springs, MO 64015. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Blue Springs Cemetery after a brief gathering and lunch.
Rosemary graduated from Glennon High School. She worked at TWA for several years before marrying the love of her life, Raymond Gordon, in 1946. She raised 8 very independent children, all of whom, like her, treasure thinking for themselves. She raised her kids to take responsibility for their actions but was not afraid to stand up for them when they were the victims of injustice. She cared deeply about people and always wanted to help those in need.
Rosemary had a natural talent for math which she used to become a tax consultant after all of her children were in school. She was very proud when she had earned enough to have central air installed in her house. She loved games, especially Scrabble. She loved to win, which she usually did even when her health failed. Before her husband died in 2003, they had a very active social life. During their 56 years of marriage, they enjoyed square dancing, cards and world travel.
Rosemary spent the last 8 years of her life at John Knox Village where she made many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond and her son John. In her last days she was impatient to join them in eternal life. She is survived by her children, Christine Mansour (Jim); Mary Beth Gordon; Larry Gordon (Mary Joy); Michael Gordon (Kim); David Gordon (Joanne); Therese Roseburrough (John); Tim Gordon (Lorrie) and daughter-in-law Theresa A. Gordon. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers Rosemary would have preferred memorial donations to DeLaSalle Education Center. Arrangements entrusted to Meyers Funeral Chapel, fond memories and condolences may be left at www.meyersfuneralchapel.com.

I wish you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
To the entire Gordon family, my sincerest, heartfelt sympathy in the loss of Rosemary. I remember her friendly smile as she was so active at St. John’s. What a wonderful legacy she has left behind in each one of you – her wonderful family members.
For the Gordon Family:
I have known Rosemary since we were in the first grade and lived across the street from each other on North Hardesty.
I last visited with her at John Knox.
With sympathy,
Virginia (Patch) McLoughlin
