Sandy and I enjoyed all the opportunities we had to spend time together. We will never forget the icy ride to Lake St. Louis for the Elks State bowling tournament a couple years ago. I believe that was the last year Roger bowled in it. I will always remember his love of ritual and especially as Esquire which hen encouraged me to do also and I am so glad i did!
I’ve known Roger & Betty for many years, one of the first people I met when my husband joined the Lodge. Wonderful people, and many memories of State conventions. He was a wonderful man, and will be missed by many people. Condolences go out to Betty and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
So many memories of our brother and dear friend in Elkdom. Roger was a kind and loyal member of Our Elks Lodge 2509. His many hours of service were given unselfishly and in more ways than known by many. His voice will forever remain in my memory as he sang How Great thou Art at our services and as tributes to many friends Celebrations of Life. It was an honor knowing this man. Dave and I send our love to Betty and members of the family.
The Hightower’s send the deepest of condolences to the Deterding family.
Mike & Michelle

Hugs and Prayers,
All praise be to God for the gift of faith Roger was given! I never knew how much of a sense of humor he had until my father’s funeral. He will definitely be missed by family and friends. I’m thinking that God calling Him home is a greater gift than any we will receive this Christmas. May your tears of grief be mingled with tears of joy as we celebrate the victory over death we have in the resurrection victory of our Lord Jesus Christ! A very special portion of God’s peace and comfort be given to you the Christmas and in the days, months and years ahead! We embrace you with our prayers!
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Roger was loved by many.
Love and prayers,
Vicki Hogan
If I were to leave a true and special condolence to you, Betty, and the family–it would be the same words that “Curtis Deterding” wrote. That eloquent message is my heart’s tribute to Roger–called away from earth to Heaven’s Home in time for our celebration of Christ’s birth. Betty, when I first learned of Roger’s passing I was unable to write because the words were choked from expression. (I was just going to send an email Christmas message to you when I heard.) You can know that deepest sympathy and prayers are with you and all the Deterding family at this time.
Uncle Roger brought joy and smiles every time he entered a room. I have many fond memories of your family with our family at the 4th of July picnics. May he rest in peace in God’s loving arms. Blessings on your family.
My prayers and thoughts are with you, Betty, and your family during this difficult time.
Betty so sorry to hear about Rogers passing. He will be truly missed. Prayers are with you and your family.
We are sorry for your loss. Roger was an awesome man and will be missed. Prayers to you and your family.

The Lodge has lost a true friend and great member. He was little in stature, but tall among true Elks! We will miss him greatly. All our Love & prayers to his family & friends.
Betty so sorry for your loss. Roger was a good one. Glad you had those years with him. I haven’t seen him in years, but when he was around we had so much fun. He’s not hurting anymore and with his heavenly Father and with his family celebrating. Again so sorry Betty.
Jeanie
So sorry for your loss.
Roger was definitely one of the “good guys”. So sorry for your loss.
Roger was such a good friend of 54 plus years. We certainly shared a lot over that time. I will remember the dances, conventions, and and going to the Chiefs games in his bright red orange pickup. So many good and sad times shared. I will miss him always. Love to you and your family.
Sorry for your loss. Unfortunately unable to attend the services. You are in my prayers.
Betty, my sincere condolences to you, Mike, Cheryl, Terri, and the rest of the family for the loss of Roger. I was sorry to hear he had lost his long battle with cancer, but at the same time I’m glad he’s no longer suffering! Thinking of you all, and praying for God’s comfort.
