Roberta I. Musil, 89, of Kansas City, MOpassed away peacefully on October 18, 2022. She was born July 10, 1933 in Corning, IA to Kenneth and Velma (Mosman) Calkins.
Roberta was reared and educated in Corning and married William A. Musil there on November 4, 1953. They made Kansas City their home in the middle 1960’s. She worked for the Park Hill School District and was a long-time member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Platte Woods, MO, where she enjoyed volunteering with various youth programs. In her spare time, she also enjoyed crafting, spending time with family and friends at the lake, weekly outings with her Pizza Shoppe Ladies and fellow members of the Red Hat Society.
Mr. Musil preceded her in death in 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Carol June Trussell; and a brother, Daryl Calkins. Survived by her son, Donald R. Musil and wife, Sara; daughter, Kathlyn J. Van Winkle and husband, Scott; sister, Myrna Lou Mains; grandchildren: David Musil, Amy Smith, Shaun Musil, Tyler Van Winkle, Jill Van Winkle; Ann McLauchlen and Lisa Mitchell; and 16 great grandchildren.
Roberta was an excellent listener, thoughtful and kind. She offered warm hugs, encouraging words and sound advice. She and Bill shared a tremendous love. Together again.
Hard to believe my “book-end is gone. She was always a special person to me. My oldest sister was always there for me. I will miss her terribly much!!
Don, i am sorry for the loss of your Mother. We are to believe that she is now free of pain and sorrow. I wish you gentle days ahead with many memories sent to you by her to give you comfort.
