Richard Warren Garrard, 84, of Parkville, MO passed away October 13, 2017 in Kansas City, MO. He was born on October 31, 1932 in St. Joseph, MO, the son of Ernest and Bessie (Freeman) Garrard.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Air Force and spent the majority of his working career as a diesel mechanic for Victor L. Phillips. He was of the Baptist faith and in his spare time enjoyed hunting, camping and spending time outside. He always looked forward to his annual hunting trips with his friends in New Boston, MO area.
He married Virginia Marsh on January 19, 1958 in Maryville, MO. She preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving daughter, Susan Martinez and husband, William of Kansas City, MO; a brother, John “Marlin” Garrard and wife, Joyce of Red Bluff, CA; and a grandson, Bradley William Martinez.
The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville. A funeral service celebrating Richard’s life will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the Price Funeral Home in Maryville, MO. Burial with military honors will follow at the Long Branch Cemetery, Gaynor, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society P.O.
