Richard Lee Hill, 86, a resident of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Seasons Care Center in Kansas City, MO. He was born December 13, 1935 to Lawrence E. Sr. and Elizabeth R. (O’Toole) Hill in Carroll, IA.
Richard was united in marriage to Alda Nadine Collins on March 25, 1961 in Miami, OK. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Richard was a pioneer in the computer programing industry, starting in the 1960’s RB Jones and Investment Company and then for Jones and Babson a provider of mutual fund management services located in Kansas City, MO. He also worked closely with IBM who called him personally with any questions they may have had. Richard was known for his stupid jokes, being a servant, helping anyone in need, and a lover of a good chocolate desert.
Survived by his daughters, Norma Hill Simmons, (Don Simmons) of Lake Lotawana, MO and Anita Hill, (Myshka LaBarge) of Lenexa, KS; grandchildren: Laura Simmons Hughes (Aaron) and their children, Anna and Ava; Adam Simmons (Kristin) and their son, Colin; Rachel Simmons Allan (Zach) and their daughter, Zoe; Caleb Tipton (Serina Mugler), Jordan Tipton (Ashleigh) and their son, Grant; siblings, Daniel Hill (Maggie) of Mountain Lake, MN, Harold Hill (Virginia) Iona, MN, Marilyn Herrig (Ed) of Wilmont, MN, Lawrence Hill Jr. (Linda) of Independence, MO. Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Alda Hill; parents, Lawrence Sr. and Elizabeth Hill; sister, Janice Palmer; brother, Robert Hill.
Richard will be cremated per his wishes. A Celebration of his life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs.
