Reginald “Reggie” Allen Day of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away on Friday December 30, 2022, from pneumonia brought on by Covid, surrounded by his loving family. Reggie, son of Donald H Day and Enid Rahe (Barnes) Atkinson, was born on October 13, 1943 in Jackson County MO. Reggie was an avid genealogist and enjoyed raising Koi fish in his award winning Koi pond. He was able to trace his lineage back to the American Revolution and became a Son of the American Revolution. Reggie retired from Armco/GST Steel in 1999 after 32 years of service, then worked for the Blue Springs school district for 5 years. Reggie met the love of his life, Linda Joyce Dyer in 1957 at the age of 14. They were married on March 7, 1964 and went on to have almost 59 years filled with the truest love ever known. We will forever remember your laugh and the ornery twinkle in your baby blue eyes.

I was very nervous when I asked Reggie for his daughter Dana’s hand in marriage. He told me he couldn’t have asked for a better son in law. Those words have always stayed with me.
He was more than a father in law to me. He was a friend that would do anything for you. He was also another father figure I could lean on. Reggie, Dad, friend, you will be missed terribly. But I know you are truly happy together again with your wife in heaven!! You’ll be with me always.
They were lovely people. All my interactions with them were wonderful and they were a great couple. Though so sad, it seems appropriate that they couldn’t live without each other. I wish them
Both safe passage on the next part of their journey. Prayers and love to all of their family.
Reggie sold me my first insurance policy waaaay back in 64 I believe. The good old days at the Dairy Inn… RIP my friend Dave Behnke
What a beautiful story Reggie and Linda have made. Most people only dream of a life like they were able to create. Kind and gently with smiles brighter than the sun. Wonderful and supportive parents. Their legacy is carried on in the smiles of children and grandchildren. What a blessed and cherished life they have lived. They will be sorely misses but remembered with such fondness and love. May they rest in peace together forever❤.
Remembering all the wonderful times spent at their home around the pool for family gatherings. They always were so much fun. They will be missed greatly.

Reggie you were the greatest husband and father that Linda, Mischele, Dana, or Sabrina could have been blessed with! RIP Reggie RIP
Reggie and Linda’s life was definitely a true love story. Not only their love for each other but for anyone that they encountered. They truly opened their hearts to everyone. And they were so much fun! The most outgoing, energetic people to be around. Reggie’s piercing blue eyes looked right into your soul then his big laugh would take you by surprise then everyone would crack up! We always hoped to cruise with them again but now they’ve got their own cruise together into eternity. We really loved these wonderful parents to Michelle, Dana and Sabrina. Our prayers are with the family to stay strong and carry on the love of Reggie and Linda.
Very Sincerely, Scott and Conni
Just now seeing this and am so saddened. Reggie was my step brother, and have tremendous memories of him, and Linda. Countless days spent with him in the 1970s and 1980s. Poker parties, fish fries, visits to see his koi fish. Such a wonderful outgoing soul. RIP Reggie and Linda. A true love story. I idolized you. So happy your Mom and my Dad married and thus brought the both of you into my life. Dr. Stan Atkinson 8.9.23
