Born December 9, 1953 Penny was devoted to God, family and country as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She drew her strength from the Lord and recent consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary; giving of herself to family, friends and strangers in any context she was found. Penny most enjoyed her grandchildren, sewing and crafts, especially during the holidays. A U.S. Postal employee, Penny was known to have personalized her mail route, delivering mail with care and compassion, even going out of her way for the handicapped and elderly. She brought a smile to everyone’s face who encountered her.
Penny had been married to her beloved husband, Michael, for nearly 32 years. She is also survived by siblings: Pamela Kay Klingler, Patty Ann Chaffin, Lee Jr. Brushwood, and Randy Ray Brushwood; children: Willy Price, Jennifer Bellar, Scott Adams and Sabrina Smith; Grandchildren: Sean, William, Ashley, Steven, Brett, Triston, Alec, Colton, Angelina, Jasmine, Dharmani (deceased), Aiden, Ayla, Christian and Serenity as well her Great Grandchildren: Lliam, Homer and June.
Penny will be forever remembered as an honorable, generous, loving and overwhelmingly kind person who cared deeply for her family and was connected to many, many people in the local community. She was privileged to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Despite her recent battle with brain cancer that was seemingly unknown for some time, she deeply encouraged her faith community at church and kinsfolk to trust in the Lord and surrender to God’s will. Having suffered much in life and, at the end of life to terminal illness, she bravely endured with Christian hope.
Penny’s body has been donated to the KU School of Medicine for student education and research. Her final interment will be with military honors at the Columbarium in the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Please join her faith community and family at St. Charles Borromeo Parish for a Memorial Mass on Saturday, April 1st at 1:00 pm, preceded by a Visitation to family and friends which begins at 12 noon in the church. St. Charles Borromeo Parish is located at 900 NE Shady Lane Dr. Kansas City, MO. 64118. Instead of flowers, the family would like to continue helping others in Penny’s community by memorandum contributions being made in her behalf to the St. Charles Revitalization Campaign (envelopes will be available) or by a one-time donation online at https://stcharleskc.weshareonline.org/ws/opportunities/SchoolMaintenanceUpgrade. Following the Memorial Mass, a luncheon will be provided in the parish hall located in the basement of the church. May she, Penny Adams, rest in the peace of Christ the Lord.
