Patty graduated from Hayden High School in Topeka, KS. Afterwards, Patty received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Kansas City Kansas Community College and her Bachelor’s of Nursing from Central Missouri State University. She started her career as a Registered Nurse in the surgery department at North Kansas City Hospital. Afterwards, she worked in occupational health nursing at General Motors, Magna Seating Systems, and Harley Davidson. After retiring from Harley Davidson, Patty transitioned to her most cherished and loved occupation, which was being “Nana” to her nine grandchildren, who she considered perfect and a piece of her heart.
In a rather unconventional move for Patty, she joined and served in the Army Reserves for three years, where she played the flute in an all-female military band. In the final year of service, she was able to transfer into her father’s unit at the armory in Kansas City, KS, where he was the commanding officer (Colonel Francis Prohaska). Patty left the miliary life behind when she was honorably discharged in 1977, but you could still hear her flute skills in later days at church or while accompanying her children on the piano.
After retiring from nursing, Patty would commonly volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry at St. Therese parish. Patty also volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader, a Cub Scout Leader, and as a school nurse.
She also loved to spend time with family and friends, especially when playing pickleball and bunco, although there were some of us who suspected “bunco” was just an excuse to hang out with friends and drink wine. Regardless, Patty loved being with her family and friends.
She married Peter Anthony Walker on May 29, 1976, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Topeka. In addition to Peter, survivors include her three beloved children and their spouses: Anna Marie Guastello (Joe) of Parkville, MO, Dr. Peter Anthony Walker (Patricia) of Houston, TX, and Paul Joseph Walker (Rebecca) of Shawnee, KS; her beloved grandchildren: Joseph, Ava, John, Ella, Elizabeth, Emma, Grace, and Kathryn; and her siblings: Joseph Anthony (Tony) Prohaska, Susan (Prohaska) Nyp, Ruth (Prohaska) Sample, Timothy Prohaska, and William Prohaska. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Anthony Guastello.
Funeral services have been set for Thursday, October 6, 2022. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, with the Mass of Christian Burial commencing at 7:00 p.m. A private family Committal Service will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Sister Servants of Mary or to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at St. Therese and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Pete and family,
We remember the last time we saw Patty; Thanksgiving 2020 at Anna and Joe’s house. Covid had a grip and everyone gathered in small groups. She was beautiful, laughing and funny and that’s the way we want to remember her. She leaves love and a legacy for her family and all who knew her.
“May the Lord make His face to shine upon her and give her rest”
Anna,
I’am so sorry for your loss, thinking of you and your Family.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of knowing Patty at Harley-Davidson. My thoughts and prayers for the family.
Anna and family,
I’m so sorry to hear about your mom; I will miss seeing her at 8:00 Mass. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.
I am so sorry for your loss of wife, mom, Nana, etc. She was a one-of-a-kind person who. was my favorite and most unique boss and great friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Patty is at peace with Jesus, Anthony and her parents. What a wonderful place for her to be!!
I’m so saddened to hear the news of Patty who I had the pleasure of working with at Magna Seating. She left Magna to go work at Harley Davidson plant. Knowing I wouldn’t like that she was leaving, she came to my office shut the door & laid a Harley Davidson sticker on my desk, which wasn’t odd since I rode a Harley I kinda thought ok nice but what’s the message? I look across my desk & Patty is tearing up, then I tear up but still don’t understand until Patty finally blurted she was going to work at Harley. Then I ask her to leave my office & I wasn’t talking to her anymore until lunch!
Patty would shine like a dime when speaking of her family who she cherished & loved so dearly. When didn’t Patty shine?
Prayers, peace & love to the family.
Pete, Anna, Peter & Paul,
We are so sad to hear about the journey you and Patty have been on leading to her passing. Patty was a fighter and she fought for you all. I can see her now holding Anthony and loving on him, just as she did every child that entered the Walker/Prohaska families. Rest In Peace, Patty!
I met Patty when she came to work at Harley-Davidson. She was so lovely, kind, and brave. I have an image of her standing in front of a crowded Town Hall group of HD employees, covering a delicate health topic. “March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month…” You need fortitude to say those words into a microphone. My condolences for your loss.
My sincere condolences for All of
The Family!!MAY GOD BLESS AND
GIVE YOU PEACE AND WONDERFUL MEMORIES!Many Prayers sent
to All!!

I just want you to know that after Patty’s funeral I was walking by and all the grandchildren were gathered together near the water fountain. The eldest boy I believe his name is joseph? He was hugging and consoling one of his either cousins or sisters and he said “remember, we should be proud of what we did today it really touched my heart. What a wonderful Legacy Patty has left
Very sorry to hear of your loss of Patty. We just got to meet and talk with her one time and thought she was a great person.
