Patty graduated from Park Hill High School, attended Penn Valley Community College and earned a bachelors of Science in Nursing from Park University. Earlier in her career she worked for KU Med before transitioning to hospice care and later home health. In her spare time she enjoyed being outdoors, spending time at the lake, working in her Koi pond, tending to her flower garden, occasional trips to the casino and collecting all things to do with giraffes. Patty had a love for animals, especially dogs that were in need of care. Above all, family was most important to her, she especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren.
She married James Freeman on September 5, 2006 in Clay County, MO. In addition to James, Patty is survived by her four cherished grandchildren: Eli, Coen, Dakota and Sydney, two sons: Dustin Weimer and wife, Shannon of Gladstone, MO and Jacob Weimer and wife, Rachel of Kansas City, MO. Survivors also include two sisters: Linda Bigler of Greers Ferry, AR and Gayla Fligge and husband, Steve of Kansas City, MO.
Patty’s brother, Gary Gilbert and her parents preceded her in death.
