Patrick grew up in Blue Springs playing soccer, baseball, wrestling, ice hockey, football and tennis. He made his high school tennis team with a broken arm.
He loved sports and the Royals and the Chiefs. He attended the ShowMe Challenge in Nevada, Missouri with the National Guard where he completed his high school education. He was chosen to meet the governor in Jefferson City.
Patrick loved music. His tastes spanned the range of blues to rap. He found a message in every song he listened to and often wrote lyrics to share his feelings and his soul. He loved going into a recording studio to create music with his closest friends. Like all of us, he had aspirations. When he was younger, he wanted to grow up to be a football player or singer of songs.
He traveled to Ireland and England with his family and hiked the Grand Canyon. He searched for himself in California.
Patrick will be missed as our son, brother and a father. He will be missed greatly as a friend. If you were his friend, you were his friend forever. There could never be a more loyal friend than Patrick. He always had your back. Patrick was always selfless, putting others first no matter what it cost him.
Patrick, who we affectionately called “Paddy”, leaves us to join his Grandmother Agnes Stanley and Grandfather Rhea Stanley and Grandparents Rose and Charles McCarthy to keep track of us all from a better place.
He leaves the mourning to his father, Tony McCarthy and his wife Judy of Lake Tapawingo, his mother Laura McCarthy and her partner Cindy Van Horn of Leawood, KS. He leaves a sister Jenny and her husband Brian Everard. He leaves his Aunts, Vickie, Denise, Karen, Mary, Margaret and Rosemary and Uncle Larry. He leaves behind his greatest love, his son Elijah, 4 years old, whom he loved with all of his heart and Elijah’s brother Isaiah and sisters Jazzy and Aryiana and their mother whom he loved very much, Amber Butler. He leaves countless friends among them Brad and Tyler, who will never forget him and his huge heart. There is a presence missing in the world today and it is Patrick.
