Cremation is planned with a private celebration with family and friends. Patricia Mae Thielen, 68, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully on April 12, 2023, in her home following a courageous fight against breast cancer. She was born May 24, 1954 in Ft. Dodge, IA to Louis A. and Lorna Mae (Anderson) Gutz.
Pat graduated high school in Jefferson, IA. Her working career included data entry positions at TWA and Citibank. Following those positions, she would go on to truly find her calling, working with God’s children at the Northland Early Education Center and most recently in her parish preschool at Christ Lutheran Church in Platte Woods, MO. Pat had a strong love for her LORD, her family and her friends. She cherished all those relationships throughout the years and she will be dearly missed by all. Pat had a huge heart, kind smile and a fantastic sense of humor.
She married Terry Jon Thielen on September 4, 1985. In addition to Terry, survivors include her sister and best friend, Pamela Rae Mentzer and husband, Don of Olathe, KS; her beloved nieces, Kari Mentzer Liggett and husband, Jared of Olathe, KS and Jill Mentzer of West Des Moines, IA.; her “grandchildren” Sadie and Evie Liggett of Olathe, KS; her beloved cat, Missy; her extended family of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Douglas and David Gutz.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Pat’s memory to Christ Lutheran Church, Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter or Mid Continent Public Library and may be left in care of the Meyers Northland Chapel, 401 Main St., Parkville, MO 64152.
