Patricia “Pat” Nadine McFerrin, beloved mother of two, grandmother of five, and great-grandmother of three, passed away June 19th, 2022.
Patricia was born August 30, 1942 in Kansas City Missouri, to Joseph and Dorothy (Walker) Seifner. She was the eldest of five children.
As a child, Patricia grew up in a military home, so for many of her young years, the family traveled and moved about frequently, particularly through Florida and the Philippines.
After ultimately settling with her family in Gladstone, Missouri, she grew determined that she could do anything that anyone else could do, regardless of any physical limitations, and she proved it.
In her early twenties, in 1967, she worked for the city of Kansas City, Missouri, where she ultimately met her husband, Ronald McFerrin.
She raced a Chevy Corvair, raised two children, supported her husband through law school, put herself through college after her children were grown, became a member of Beta Sigma Phi of which she was a member for 35 years, and helped to raise two of her grandchildren. Through it all, she was completely independent, living and driving on her own.
Pat was always happy, energetic, spunky, loving, and gracious of her spirit and time.
She loved her family more than anything and worked hard to keep family connected. She loved her surrogate sisters in her sorority and was energized by their connection and time together.
Patricia was an example of ultimate, unselfish, and devoted love, and passed those lessons to all she knew and loved. Pat strived to push all the limits and to live life with flair and style. To children, she taught the importance of discipline and respect, especially by way of her notoriously stern low whispers of redirection when course correction was needed. To young wives and mothers, she taught the importance of remembering to care for oneself so as to be best able to care for your family. To all, Pat demonstrated that life is about what you make of it, regardless of all else.
She will be missed so very much by all who knew and loved her. Pat is survived by her daughter Shawn McFerrin of Gladstone, Missouri; son Derek McFerrin (Cindy) of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Kylie Becker (Josh), Reagan Compton, Ronnie McFerrin, Daisy McFerrin, and Faith McFerrin; 3 great grandchildren Logan, Kaiden, and Sloan Becker; sisters Margaret Granger, Susan Gibson, and Barbara Seifner; brother Kenneth Seifner; sister-in-law Patricia Mellas (Ray); brother-in-law Philip McFerrin (Katie); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law Albert McFerrin, ex-husband Ron McFerrin, sister-in-law Lila Snead, and mother-in-law Emma McFerrin.
Please feel free to wear beautiful happy vibrant colors to celebrate her life.

i’m so sorry for your loss. Patty was a wonderful friend and always so happy. I’m going to miss her a lot.
I’m so sorry to know that Patty has passed away. In my mind, she will always be a young girl, one of my cousins, with whom we spend a great deal of time as children. So many years have passed, but we kept in touch with each other, though not enough. I will miss her and love her and the memory of her, but I will hold on to the knowledge that she will suffer no more.
My heart goes out to Patty’s family. I am so sorry for your loss.
You have never met me before. I am the daughter of Teri-Sue (Young) Thompson. Teri-Sue and Patty were cousins.
Derek and Cindy I’m so sorry to hear of Patty’s passing. She was a beautiful vibrant lady who always wore a smile. You will all be in my thoughts.
