Patricia Joan Hector, 81, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO passed away May 12, 2021, at the St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. She was born June 20, 1939 in New York, NY, the daughter of Harry and Beatrice E. (Tamor) Marks.
Patricia earned a Masters in Education from the University of Florida and went on to have a long and rewarding career as an educator. Her passion for teaching was on full display when she worked as an elementary reading specialist and later teaching English at the University of the Virgin Islands. Patricia was very active within various civic and sisterhood organizations. She was most proud of her ETA Phi Beta membership. She was also active in the Red Hat Society, KCI Rotary Club and she held several other long standing memberships. A great person, dear friend and wonderful mother. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her son and best friend, Michael James Hector if Kansas City, and several extended family and close friends.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate and honor Patricia’s life later this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Eta Phi Beta Sorority and May be left in care of the Meyers Northland Chapel, 401 Main Parkville, MO 64152. I wanted to write and let you know that you and your family are in my prayers right now. I realize that there are no words that I could write or say to make things better, but please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of Patricia. She was there in my time of need with healing words, and a heart that wanted everyone to see the beauty in the world.
