Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Patricia Joan Cooper, passed away on January 31, 2021 at Tiffany Springs Senior Living Center in Kansas City, Mo.
Pat was born April 7, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri to Francis (Ballenger) and Lloyd Older. She graduated from North East High School in 1964 and went to work for AT&T where she retired in 2001. It was at AT&T where Pat made several lifelong friends.
Pat and her husband, Wayne Reimer, had two sons Scott and Todd. Scott’s marriage to Lisa in 2018 brought Pat great joy and Todd and his wife Melissa, blessed Pat with two grandchildren, Emily and Jack. Pat was a devoted, doting Nana and cherished every minute that she spent with her grandchildren.
Pat found love in her life again in 1989 when she married Phil Cooper. They spent 12 wonderful years together. They liked to travel, cruise, and spend time with their friends. Pat and Phil loved Arizona and had a home built in Gilbert for their retirement. Their dreams were unrealized with Phil’s untimely death. However Pat did move to Gilbert, and became an active member of the Gilbert Presbyterian Church where she made many friends. She enjoyed volunteering in the local museum. She returned to Kansas City in 2007.
Pat was a consummate shopper, a snappy dresser, loved decorating her homes, and was an avid KC Chiefs fan. She loved her “KC Chicks Lake Weekends” when she and her friends would head to the lake to shop, play games and party.
Pat was an attentive, devoted daughter to her mother, Francis. She loved her dogs, Casey and Earl. But most of all she loved her friends and family. She always went out of her way to make them feel loved, celebrate their successes and provide support and comfort during challenging times. Patricia was a kind and generous soul and her spirit will live in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Pat leaves behind her sons and their spouses Scott and Lisa of Alexandria, VA; Todd and Missy Reimer and grandchildren Emily and Jack of Gurnee, IL; brothers Ed Older (Denise) of Weatherby Lake, MO, and Bob Older of San Francisco, CA; nephews Justin Older (Jessica) of Parkville, MO and Stephen Older (Kelsey) of Leewood, KS; step children Michael Cooper of Lee’s Summit, MO, Brian Cooper (deceased) and Ronda White of Buckner, MO; Mother- in- law Mary Skaggs of Independence, MO.
Special thanks to Fran McCauley whose loving kindness and enduring friendship supported Pat through the good times and hard times in her life.
The devotion and care that Pat received at Tiffany Springs and from her hospice team was a blessing to Pat and to her family and friends. We thank you.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held later this year when we can all gather safely. Charitable donations would be welcomed at Harvesters. Memories of Pat and condolences may be shared at meyersfuneralchapel.com
Pat,
We will miss you so much. We loved spending holidays and Sunday dinners with you. You were such a bright spark and always had something funny to say or retort with.
We cannot wait for when all of you friends and family get together to be able to celebrate your amazing life.
We love you Aunt Pat! Until we meet again <3
Sent with much sadness. I knew Pat through her friend Carole. We always had a good time together. Pat loved life and she made others happy as well.
Her smile will be missed..
Pat is such a gracious woman. Our daughter Jessie loved Pat from the start. Planning Jess and Justin’s wedding was such fun with Pat. Living in Illinois it was always a comfort to know how much Pat loved and helped them. We will miss her bubbly personality.
To Eddy, Bobby and Pat’s entire family, she will always be ‘Patty’ up the street to me. I’m sorry that I didn’t get a chance to reconnect with her in the last years…Eddy and Bobby as well. What a reunion that would have been. I’m praying that you all will have peace & comfort during this very difficult time of letting go.
