Richard Patrick “Pat” White, Sr., 85, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, June 17, 2023. He was born May 4, 1938 in St. Louis, MO to Joseph E. and Agnes “LaVerne” (Reed) White.
Pat began his career at a young age as a paper boy. In later years, his employment at Miss Hullings Cafeteria in St. Louis led him to meet his future wife and love of his life, Geri Matthews. The couple married on May 31, 1956 and later moved to Kansas City in 1974. Pat found his calling in sales for industrial heating and temperature controls. His innovative spirit led to his involvement in the start-up and operation of several businesses in the Kansas City area, including Heatron, Thermal Tech Equipment, and Infrared Technologies.
Pat was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Parkville, MO and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7199. Pat enjoyed traveling the world with family and friends and especially enjoyed his trips to Ireland. He was very proud of his Irish heritage. After retirement, he enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and watching the Royals and Chiefs. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Pat is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Geraldine “Geri” (Matthews) White, and their five children: Richard Patrick “Rick” White, Jr. and wife, Tina; Donald Joseph White and wife, Janice; Robyn Suzanne McMichael and husband, Mark; Susan Marie Quarles; and Tracy Anne White and wife, Kristyn; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Pat was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donald White; and two sisters, Betty Keller and Dolores “Dodie” Zeman.
The Rosary will be prayed 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at St. Therese Catholic Church 7207 N.W. Pat was so witty and smart, and a wonderful
friend and neighbor.
So sad to hear about Pat’s passing! He had such a wonderful smile and personality!! I wish I could see you all and give you all a big hug! We will keep you in our thoughts, hearts, and prayers!
Some of my best childhood memories were at Aunt Geri and Uncle Pats old house in Normandy MO ….playing with my cousins and hearing his big booming voice laughing. I love you all . Tina
Sending love. Pat had the best smile and laugh. He lightened up the room, even when he didn’t feel his best. He was always up for giving good advice when asked. His absence will be hard to miss! Hugs and love to you all.
Traveling to Ireland twice with Pat & Geri & the Kings was really the most fun of all trips. Oh, the memories! Of the six of us only Geri and I are left. I will forever treasure the memories of our winters in Texas, square dancing, and feel blessed to have known Pat & Geri.
We had the pleasure of meeting Uncle Pat, as we lovingly refer to him, 34 years ago on our honeymoon! We were blessed to travel with him and Aunt Geri and many of their family for the next 30 years. Uncle Pat was a dear sweet, considerate, and old fashion man who treated people with kindness. He was a lot of fun and we had so many good times together. Some of our favorites were enjoying a good meal together, drinking cocktails poolside, watching sunsets on the beach, and listening to live music, especially a good Irish band. We will miss him dearly until he meets us again at the pearly gates of heaven. Until then we’re sure he’s having a great time dancing with Jesus, Ed, Dodie, June, Chris, Gene, Johnny, Pinky, Matt, and many others. We send our prayers to the entire White family.
When I think of Uncle Pat, I think of family. I have so many wonderful memories with him and his family. My children never had any cousins, but when we visited they were always welcomed with opened arms. Praying for all of you to find comfort and peace from those memories and a life well lived. Sending love from our family….
