Norman was an electrician and retired from Kansas City Power and Light Company. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was Past Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge in Farley, MO. Norman was proud to be a veteran of the United States Army, and served during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Viola (Jantzen) Shackelford and nine siblings. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Ruby Stubbs-Shackelford; Norman’s children, John Shackelford (Ramon Medina) and Linda Shackelford, both of Kansas City, North; Ruby’s children, Catherine Farthing and Thomas Stubbs; two brothers, Ralph Shackelford and Donald Shackelford; a sister, Dorothy Miller; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A funeral service celebrating Norman’s life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville. Burial will follow at the East Slope Cemetery in Riverside, MO. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m., prior to the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Platte County Historical Society or Platte County Eleemosynary Society and may be left in care of the funeral home.
