I am grateful for the life of Mr. Slavens. Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.
Uncle Nelson was part of my life from birth. He was always there if needed. He was like a older brother. His memories will be forever with me.
Nelson and Juanita were great friends to my parents, Marion and Ruby Allen when they lived in Kansas City, Kansas. Nelson and Juanita were the June and Ward of my early life. I went through many years of school with Gayle, and knew Pete and Gary. What A wonderful, long life and a length of imprint on many lives that I doubt he ever realized. Tom Allen
