LTC Keller:
I’m so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.
No parent should ever have to experience the death of their child. It is inconceivable. When it happens, it is one of the greatest tragedies imaginable. I’m sorry for how great this pain must be for you. I didn’t get to spend enough time with Nathan as I wanted to, yet I still called him one of my closest friends. For some reason, I felt connected to him more than anyone in high school. He was so easy to talk to, so ready to laugh and make others laugh. I was looking forward to seeing him one day, at UMKC, so much. There is a huge sadness in my heart at the idea of not seeing him again. He is at peace now, and I hope one day we can all come to terms with his passing, and remember him eternally. I love him.
Hugh
There are no words I can say to ease the pain, just know your family are in my thoughts and prayers and whatever you need I’m here.
I just want to let you know that having Nathan in my life was one of the best things to ever happen to me. He was my brother and he will forever live on all of us. My heart goes out to you all.
Danielle and Nate,
I cannot imagine the pain of losing a son. I know that in your home he knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and trust that he is with Him now. He was blessed to have you as parents and you were blessed to have his as your son while he was with us on this earth. God will strengthen and comfort you during this time. I am praying for you through each day.
I’ll keep you all in my prayers. I was truly fortunate to get to know Nathan. He had my back on countless occasions, and his sense of humor consistently put a grin on my face. His taste in music was exceptional, and his knowledge of topics that piqued his interest always impressed me. Nate was such a valuable part of our friend group, and I’ll never forget our late night hang outs. I can say with the utmost certainty that Nate had a lasting positive effect on many others and me. Rest in peace, Nathan.

I want to extend my sincere condolences to the Keller family for their loss. Nathan was a rare 19 year old with intellectual giftedness and politeness. He was a very good friend to my daughter. His goodness and kindness will be missed. Rest in Peace young man who left far too soon. You have left positive, unerasable marks on many. It is youth like you who preserve my faith in this otherwise scarey world.

My heart hurts to hear the news of Nate’s passing. I was fortunate to have Nate as a student at PHHS, where he stood out as a student with promising intellect and maturity. The thing I will remember most, however, was his sense of humor. Normally Nate would show an academic, almost stoic expression during class, until a shy smile would creep across his face and he would utter a witty, flawlessly timed comedic comment- just loud enough for everyone to hear and enjoy. He was a pleasure to be around, both in class and in years thereafter when he would visit my classroom while staying late for various school activities- always with a question to discuss or observation to make. Nate will be a student I always remember and I am thankful for knowing.
Peace be with your family.
-Jennifer West, Social Studies Dept, PHHS
