Philip Ray Manuel, 77, a resident of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Senior Star at Villa Ventura in Kansas City, MO. He was born September 13, 1945 to Harold and Wilma (Clark) Manuel in Kansas City, MO.
Philip is a 1963 graduate of Southwest High School in Kansas City, MO. While in High School he excelled in athletics. Philip was a member of the All-American High School Track and Field Team in 1963 and received the Prestigious Joe Dorr award for best athlete his senior year. Philip received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Kansas in Biology and Anthropology. He received His Bachelor is Science in Nursing Degree from Research School of Nursing in Kansas City, where he was Class President. Philip then furthered his education by earning his Master’s Degree in Anesthesia Education from Gonzaga University in 1980. Philip worked as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist in Kennewick, WA, Spokane, WA, and Winslow, AZ. Following his retirement in 2008 he moved to Costa Rica. Philip was an avid pilot, and enjoyed riding horses, fast cars, ocean fishing, live music, and track and field.
Survived by his children, Lucinda Lariviere of Lone Jack, MO, Julie Howard of Lee’s Summit, MO, Ryan Manuel of San Tan, AZ; grandchildren, Ryan Carroll of Kingsville, MO, Sean Carroll of Kingsville, MO, Brooke Seldomridge of Lone Jack, MO, Brittany Oreb of Aptos, CA, Hailee Howard of Lee’s Summit, MO, Braeden Howard of Lee’s Summit, MO, Tyler Manuel of San Tan, AZ, Chase Lariviere of Lake Tahoe, CA; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Patricia Randolph and husband Jim of Overland Park, KS, Eugene Manuel of Pensacola, FL, Elaine Sander and husband Dan of Raytown, MO, Janet Leiva of Kansas City, MO. Philip was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Manuel; son, Tyler Manuel.
Philip will be cremated per his wishes. A celebration of his life will be celebrated from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant, 540 NW Chipman Rd Lee’s Summit, MO, 64086.
