Michael D. Reed, 83, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Saint Luke’s Medical Center, Lee’s Summit, MO. He was born May 6, 1938 in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of Roe T. and Dora I. (Mosgrove) Reed.
Michael had grown up in the Ventura, CA area and was a proud Veteran serving his country in the United States Army. He was a retired carpet installer working for several companies in the Kansas City area. Michael was a faithful member of the Blue Springs Assembly, where he was an active member of the Amazing Grays Senior Group and had taught Sunday School for 30 years. Michael enjoyed woodworking, and was an avid football fan, cheering on the New England Patriots and then later the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His true passion in life was his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren.
On April 17, 1965 he married Betty Goodpasture in Miami, OK, she died November 6, 2020. Survivors include his daughter, Dana Heishman and husband Doug of Blue Springs, MO, his son, Scott Reed, of Blue Springs, MO, his brother, Gerald “Skip” Reed and wife Barbara, of Grand Junction, CO, and two grandchildren; Cooper and Evan Heishman. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted and Roe Reed.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, December 18, 2021, visitation to begin at 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with the service to begin at 11:00 a.m., at the Blue Springs Assembly, 2501 E. Duncan Road, Blue Springs, MO 64029 . Private family inurnment with military honors will take place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Blue Springs Assembly Benevolent Fund (Love Fund) or to the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Was so sorry that Mike had passed away, but rejoicing also. He is with his Lord and his dear sweet Betty now. He will be missed!
