Maurine B. Dodson, 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, December 10, 2021 at her home in Blue Springs, MO. She was born March 11, 1937 in Boonville, MO, the daughter of Cecil Edward and Martha Sue (Smith) Brown.
She was a 1955 graduate of New Franklin High School, New Franklin, MO. Maurine had worked for Sears & Roebuck Stores, the Jones Store Company, and for American Family Insurance. The title though that she was most proud of was that of a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of Timothy Lutheran Church, Blue Springs, MO. In the past she had been active in the choir, and had been a Sunday School teacher. Maurine was an excellent cook and enjoyed doing needlework, but she really had a passion for music and loved not only to sing, but she was a proud marching band parent and grandparent, and loved the Big Creek Country Show in Pleasant Hill, MO.
She married Shirley Dodson on June 20, 1954 in New Franklin, MO, he died August 5, 2017. Survivors include her children, son, Douglas Dodson (Lana) of Blue Springs, MO, daughters, Donna Sue McDonald (Anthony M. Simonie) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Jill Wallace (Randy) of Blue Springs, MO, grandchildren, Matthew McDonald (Amy), Adam McDonald (Leah), Christopher McDonald, Douglas Dodson II (Sacha), Deborah Hokanson (Peter), Christian Wallace, Alexandra Wallace; great-grandchildren, Drew McDonald, Lauren McDonald, Bennett McDonald, Steven McDonald, Drake McDonald, Addie McDonald, Piper McDonald, Chase Hokanson, Katie Hokanson, David Hokanson, Dorothy Hokanson, Douglas Dodson III, Max Dodson, and Hugo Dodson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Shirley, and her brother, Keith Brown. Maurine’s family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Phoenix Hospice, especially Frankie, Jordan, Amber and Josh.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with funeral service to immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 14, 2021 all at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main Street, Blue Springs, MO 64015. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, New Franklin, MO. Maurine a very Dear friend I remember as loving Wife, Mother and Grand and Great Grandmother. The world is a better place by having her have been here and I am a better person by having her as a friend. Our loss is Heavens gain. Rest in the arms of Jesus.
