Mary grew up near 7th and Central in Kansas City, Kansas. She lived there with her parents and two sisters. Mary graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1945. She began working at the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers and was an executive secretary. Mary worked hard and was able to purchase the family’s first car. Mary took driving trips across the country, including to a “Dude Ranch” with her sister, Helen.
She married Don on February 12, 1955. They had five children and moved to Lake Waukomis in 1959, where she lived out her entire life.
She was the Church of Redeemer secretary for thirty plus years. She was a woman of strong faith that began with her Russian Orthodox origin which transferred into the Episcopal church. She was very active in the church and served on the altar guild, taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was also the Treasurer. Outside of church, she was on the PTA, room mother, Cub scout den mother, band mother and all around volunteer.
Mary had a beautiful soul both inside and out. She was a sparkling, caring and compassionate person. Empathetic to every person’s needs. She was extremely trustworthy and the soul of discretion. Her smile lit up every room. She will be missed.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Don Moerer, both parents, an infant brother Alexander Adamik and a sister, Kay Hanson. She is survived by her five loving children: Mike Moerer (Beth); Greg Moerer (Teresa); Julie Williams (Bruce); Paul Moerer and Donna Young; five grandchildren: Shanaka, Lance, Amy, Blake and Stephen; four great-grandchildren: Morgan, Kaiden, Holly and Charlie; a sister, Helen Ruckh; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. ~ 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at The Church of the Redeemer. A Memorial Service celebrating Mary’s life will commence at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will immediately follow in the Memorial Garden at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests Memorial contributions to International Association of Laryngectomees (IAL) (www.theial.com), The Church of the Redeemer or Ascend Hospice of Missouri. Memories of Mary and condolences to the family may be shared at meyersfuneralchapel.com.

I am so blessed to have met Mary back in June 2019. Mary’s sister Helen is my dear friend whom I’ve known for over 30 years. Helen asked me to drive her over to see Mary that week & I gladly drove her over. I had such a wonderful visit with Mary & Helen. Helen has shared many stories about Mary , especially the “Dude Ranch trip”. For that I’m thankful. I will always remember Mary’s wonderful smile. My sincere sympathies to my dear friend Helen & to Mary’s family.
What a beautiful picture of such a wonderful lady. Remembering with fondness the times we had together in Redeemer and Diocese of West MO volunteer work. Even in downsizing I kept a copy of the last
issue of Dio. ECW Newsletter Sharing that we did together (September 1990). Just one of our many joint projects.
Mary was just plain a lovely and caring human being . A lady who did not just go to church on Sunday, she lived
her faith 365 days a year.
Mary, I am so thankful I got to meet you and take care of you although our time together was short. You were a beautiful soul and raised some amazing children. I’m glad I got to meet your daughters. Rest easy! You will be missed.
Brad and I would like to offer our condolences. Your mother was a wonderful person and so glad that you got to spend so much time with her in the last years.
Laurel and I had the wonderful opportunity to interact with Mary, Don and some of her children many, many times. She was such a joy to be with and her family members. My condolences.
The world won’t be quite as nice a place without Mary. She had a smile that lit up the room. I’ll miss most our trips to visit Paul. I was hoping we could resume them after Covid. What a privilege it was to know her. I’m so very sorry she’s gone.
The world won’t be quite as nice a place with Mary and her megawatt smile. I’ll miss most our trips to visit Paul. I’m so very sorry she’s gone. Blessings
Mary’s smile and card of support after surgeries was the healing balm and strength to get back up and walk again. Her presence at church brought to light a strong faith. These memories shall be forever remembered. Peace of the Holy Trinity be with your families, comfort of God be with you .
I met Ms. Mary in 2016 through her daughter Julie. We visited at her home, played scrabble and I was always entertained by her wit and great sense of humor. She always smiled with her beautiful blue eyes and always made me feel at peace. I will miss you Ms. Mary. May your beautiful soul rest in peace. My sincere condolences to all her children and family and may your memories with this phenomenal woman sustain you all. Peace be with you.
Mary, my best friend for over 60 years, I will miss you. We solved the ” world problems” over a cup of coffee, raised our kids together, laughed together, cried together and helped each other through any tough times. Your faith in God was so strong and was evident in the way you lived your life. Job well done, my friend. Rest in peace.
My love to her family. Strength and peace to all of you as you remember the wonderful woman and mother that she was.
Mary is such a beautiful lady and so loved by many. I know she left this life with such peace and gratitude because of her caring and beautiful daughter, Julie. My thoughts and prayers are with Julie and families.
Dear friends and neighbors – Julie, Greg, Donna, Michael and Paul,
I have been so blessed to have known your mom and dad – having met them at a small holiday gathering of neighbors given by Marlene and Joe – even before we officially moved in in February of 1992! In recent years, I have enjoyed being a friend to your mom, doing little helpful things whenever I could. She certainly was a positive person with always a bright smile and, certainly, a woman of faith who faithfully served the Lord by serving in the church, showing kindness to anyone/everyone, and giving much love to her family.
May God bring each of you much peace and comfort as you happily remember her and know that she is resting with Jesus!
Judy Champion and family.
Dear Julie,
I have not met your mom, but I have met you .she raised a wonderful daughter, after reading what people say about her is a true reflection to her beauty inside and out. You are a great representation of your moms heart. May her beautiful soul rest well🙏🏽🤍❤️
