Margaret Mae “Marge” Murphy, 79, of Dearborn, MO passed away March 28, 2019 at the St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Marge was born on January 3, 1940 in Walker, MO to William Preston and Vonda Vivian (Price) King.
Marge graduated from Schell City High School in 1957. She married Arthur J. “AJ” Murphy, Sr. on October 24, 1969 in Jackson County, MO and together they raised three children. In June of 1986, the couple made their home in Dearborn, MO, where “Grandma Marge” would own and operate an in-home daycare business for over 20 years.
She was very devoted to both her faith and her family. Marge was a long-time faithful member of Christ Chapel in Platte City, MO. In her spare time she enjoyed family time and attending her grandchildren’s school functions and events. She was a great cook and master gardener. She will be dearly missed by all.
In addition to AJ, survivors include three children: Arthur “James” Murphy, Jr (Cynthia) of Brooking, S.D., Stephanie Parlee Hensley (Jimmy) of Camden Point, MO and Shawn Gregory Murphy of Dearborn, MO; a sister, Betty King and a brother, Stanley King, both of Overland Park, MO; and her five beloved grandchildren: Courtney Hensley, Haylie Hensley, Hannah Murphy, Laura Claire Murphy and Connor Murphy. She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings: Richard King, Ruth Harris and Don King; and an infant granddaughter, Makenzie.
A funeral service celebrating Marge’s life will be held 6:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Christ Chapel 15275 92 Highway, Platte City, MO 64079 with Rev. Rick Krist officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:30-6:00 p.m., prior to the service. Burial will take place in Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Gower Convalescent Center. The Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville has been entrusted with final arrangements.
