Linda Kay Roberts (Fletcher), 75, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO (formerly of Weatherby Lake, MO) passed away November 29, 2022, at her home under hospice care. She was born November 25, 1947, in Kansas City, MO to Malcolm and Carolyn (Hudson) Morris.
She was united in marriage with Johnnie Eugene “Gene” Roberts April 16, 1977, in Kansas City, MO. She is survived by her three daughters: Helena Pauline Roberts, her husband Frederick Maidment and their son Trip; Amanda Elizabeth Roberts and her two sons, Malcolm Edgar and Ellis Edgar; Victoria Jane Roberts; her godchildren: Brooke and her daughter, Olivia; Russell and Chris. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene in 2019 and both of her parents.
Linda was small in stature but had the ability to quiet a room full of her daughters and their friends with one look. A die-hard Chiefs fan, Linda would spend Sunday afternoons alerting the neighborhood to how the game was going via her loud ‘expressions’. Her wit was unmatched giving her the ability to shock everyone while playing Cards Against Humanity, always winning the game. Linda’s love of pranks was encouraged by her late husband, Gene. The two would often conspire to prank their daughters and friends and are certainly continuing their shenanigans now that they have both been reunited.
Linda loved to read, travel, and help people. She was always there for a shoulder to cry on showing empathy and giving everyone she met encouragement to be their unique selves. She lived her adult life to give her daughters every opportunity available being a fierce advocate for their education and passions. She loved to rescue dogs, never meeting a canine who didn’t automatically fall in love with her love. Linda was endlessly caring, loving, and giving. She will forever be in our hearts as a shining example of kindness.

Dear Liz, Victoria, Mac, Ellis and Helena,
Fred and I are so sorry for your loss.
Deeply saddened for your loss. You girls, and grandchildren were the light to Linda’s life. Rick and I shared so many memories with Gene and Linda. Raising a glass to remember the good times. Linda, may you rest in peace. We love you.
Dear Helena and Fred, Liz, Vic, Mac and Ellis,
Fred and I are deeply saddened by the loss of your mother.
Mrs Roberts was a constant in my young life. She always had a smile and a hug to greet me with.
I remember the night my brother forgot to pick me up from practice. No one was at my home so I called my other home and managed through tears to ask Mrs Roberts to come pick me up. She rescued me and had a nice laugh with my mom when she got me home.
Much love to you all.
Our prayers and condolences go out to your family and this difficult time.
I am going to mis Linda and Geno. What an amazing couple! Linda was always so very kind and collected. Always supportive. She even kept her composure when the girls made me a birthday cake made out of styrofoam with real icing and had me cut into it… Ha! I can’t drive by their old house in Weatherby Lake without going down a wonderful memory lane.
Until we meet again…
Linda was a very special woman who I will always cherish and remember.
I know her love and passion lives on in her daughters and the rest of her legacy of friends and family.
HELENA I LOVE YOU AND I AM SO SADDENED THAT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HAVE TO EXPERIENCE THIS LOSS.
YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WILL CONTINUE TO BE IN MY PRAYERS AS YOU ALL, ALWAYS HAVE BEEN.
May you comforted by the prayers of all that love you.
