Leah Joy Young, 78, a resident of Buckner, MO passed away peacefully Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Village Hospice in Lee’s Summit, MO. She was born June 2, 1941 in Canon City, CO to Edwin and Evora (Hartford) Lawrence.
Leah was united in marriage to Tommy Young on July 22, 1966 In Canon City, CO. She taught piano at Meyer Music for 20 years, before retiring in 2004. Leah was Southern Baptist by faith. In her younger years she was very active in her church choir. Leah enjoyed reading Christian romance novels, and watching TV.
Survived by her son, Terry Young of Lexington, MO; daughter, Evora Glassford (Jeff) of Buckner, MO; grandchildren, Patience, Alexander, Dakoda, Natalia, Siera, Saige; brothers, John Lawrence of Carson City, NV, Blake Lawrence of San Francisco, CA; step-mother, Phyllis Lawrence of Colorado Springs, CO; cousins, Jeanne Lawrence and Elaine Wallace both of Colorado Springs, CO. Leah is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Young; parents, Edwin and Evora Lawrence.
The family will receive friends and family from 6-7:00 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Grain Valley, 207 W. Walnut, Grain Valley, MO. Memorial service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs.
