Kevin Kennedy Ryan, 20, of Kansas City, MO passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 18, 2021. Kevin’s radiant smile and genuine love for his family and friends will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Kevin was born December 23, 2000 in Kansas City, MO along with his twin brother Nicholas. He attended St. Therese Catholic School in Parkville and graduated from Park Hill South High School in 2019. He was currently in his sophomore year pursuing a business degree at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and was a member of Kappa Alpha Order.
Our son Kevin was one of three… As a young boy, he did everything a little boy does… played sports, spent time with his friends, etc… He was happy, funny, smart, and kind. Kevin had a gift for drawing that his mother and I were amazed with. His sister would often ask him to draw her something, and he would happily oblige. Horses and unicorns mainly…we are going to miss his drawings.
As a young man in high school, Kevin turned his focus toward golf. He did excel in the classroom, but his love was for the course. His skill combined with the admiration that his teammates had for him lead to him being voted team captain. Now, Kevin’s going to have the chance to play a different course. We’re going to miss watching him play.
Hard work was not confined to the golf course as Kevin and his brother took care of lawns and the family farm every summer. Those two made the pastures look like Augusta National. We’re going to miss walking the pasture after a long day on the mowers, admiring the work that Kevin took so much pride in.
In death, Kevin has been received by our Lord, his great-grandfather James Kennedy, and his grandfather Richard “Dick” Ryan, and other members of his family who have passed before…their tee time is scheduled as they look down upon us.
Survivors include his parents, Tommy and Katy (Hunt) Ryan; his best friend and twin brother, Nicholas James Ryan; his beloved sister, Brynn Katherine Ryan; paternal grandmother, Loreta Ryan; and maternal grandparents, David and Bee Gee Hunt. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Richard “Dick” Ryan.
All services will be held on the campus of St. Therese Parish, 7207 NW Highway 9, Kansas City, MO 64152. The visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 26, in the Good Shepherd Hall, located in St. Therese School. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, at St. Therese Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Masks will be required, and social distancing observed. Following the burial, all are encouraged to come to the Tiffany Greens Community Center 10401 N. St. Clair Ave. Kansas City, MO 64154 to celebrate Kevin.
The Funeral Mass will be streamed live. Due to the current pandemic, a limited number of guests will be allowed to attend the actual Mass and friends are encouraged to participate virtually. The live stream link will appear on Kevin’s memorial page at Meyersfuneralchapel.com.
