Kenneth Lee Purvis, 92, of Blue Springs, MO passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family Saturday, March 13, 2021. He was born on May 2, 1928 to Claude and Aldra (Dunn) Purvis in Scranton, IA.
Kenneth was united in marriage to Deloris Rose on December 18, 1949 in Boone, IA. He worked for Avco Finance Co for over 25 years, as a realtor after that, and finished his career as a postal worker for several years. Kenneth also served in the US Army in Korea and Texas. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, spending time with family, and was dedicated to his church.
Kenneth is survived by his children, Craig Purvis (Jerilyn) of Oelwein, IA, Brad Purvis (Dana) of Blue Springs, MO, Jeff Purvis (Tammy) of Hertford, NC, Troy Purvis (Stephanie) of Blue Springs, MO, 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 3 sisters (Elsie, Miriam, and Ruth). He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris, and son, Kirk,
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2021 at The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5555 Valley View Rd, Blue Springs, MO. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Lobb Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. I have driven a bus in the neighborhood for several years and always looked forward to seeing him standing at his front door or sitting outside in his lawn chair, and waving at me with a big smile on his face. He will be greatly missed.
Ken was the best neighbor that anyone could have ever been blessed with. We were lucky to have known him for over 25 years. What a gem.
