Julia Elizabeth Johnson Boltz passed away peacefully on August 12, 2014. She was born October 27, 1924 in Des Moines, Iowa to Louis H. and Elizabeth Johnson. Julia graduated from Newton High School and received her B.A. Degree from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Julia married Chadwick C. Boltz on October 28, 1949 in Newton, Iowa. Julia and Chad lived in Des Moines, Iowa for many years raising their two daughters. Julia was a homemaker and also worked in the business world. Chad and Julia moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where their daughters spent their High School years. In 1974, they moved to Kansas City, Mo.
Julia enjoyed cooking and baking especially with her grandchildren. Julia’s love of cooking and baking has proved to be a great influence to her daughters and grandchildren. Julia was also excellent seamstress and spent many loving hours sewing for her family. She was active in several organizations including the Parkville Fine Arts Association and the Symphony Guild. She was a long time active member of Parkville Presbyterian Church and American Association of University Women. In their retirement years, Julia and Chad loved to travel and attend Elder Hostels.
Mr. Boltz preceded her in death on May 15, 1999. Survivors include her daughters, Claire Bowers (Norman) of Kansas City, Mo and Jane Kutner (Mark) of Denver, CO; two grandchildren, Kimberly Gasper (Joshua) and Matthew Bowers (Amanda); and two great grandchildren.
A Memorial service celebrating Julia’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday August 27, 2014 at the Parkville Presbyterian Church. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 a.m. . A Private family burial will be held at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Parkville. Memorial contributions are suggested to American Association of University Women (AAUW) Parkville MO Re-Entry program*.
