Joseph S. Miller, 57, a resident of Kansas City, MO passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer. Joe was born March 25, 1955 in St. Joseph, MO to Frieda Lawrence and Claude Madison. He was adopted by Howard and Darlene Miller at the age of 5.
He graduated from Savannah High School in 1973. He would later go on and receive his Bachelor’s degree from William Jewell College and his MBA from Rockhurst University.
Joe worked most of his adult life for KCPL, retiring after 32 years of service. Throughout his career he worked in numerous departments and was a mentor to countless employees.
The greatest joy in Joe’s life was his two daughters, Angela Renee and Erin Michele. He enjoyed many activities with them, such as travel, lake time and sharing his love of music.
Joe was a very unique and passionate person with a positive influence toward everyone he met. He was a true entertainer at heart and will be greatly missed by so many.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and adopted mother, Darlene Miller. He is survived by his daughters, Angela Miller and Erin Miller, both of Kansas City (North), MO; father, Howard Miller of Bedford, IA; brother, Claude Attebury of Tonganoxie, KS; two sisters, Mary Haer and husband, Gary of Weston, MO and Kathy Giamonco and husband, Charlie of Kirkwood, MO; half-sister, Pat Taylor of Independence, MO; nieces and nephews; many dear friends and co-workers.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2012 at Meyers Funeral Chapel 401 Main St. Parkville, MO. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. The Kansas City Hospice House gave much comfort to Joe and his loved ones in their time of need. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to KC Hospice House in Joe’s memory.
