John Brady Norman, USMC Retired, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at his home in Blue Springs, MO. He was 89 years old. John was born on October 28, 1929 in Independence, MO to Ora and Agnes (Urton) Norman.
John served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp., and retired after 20 years of service. He was united in marriage to Donna Cherry on June 10, 2000 in Blue Springs. John was a member of the American Legion Tirey J. Ford Post # 21 in Independence, MO. He enjoyed traveling, yard work, dancing, volunteering at Vesper Hall and the Independence Regional Hospital, and watching sports, especially the MU Tigers! He truly cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. John’s faith in Christ was a vital part of his life that led him to serve others, including the Impact Ministry of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife Donna Norman of Blue Springs, MO; children, John M. Norman (Deborah) of Boerne, TX, Pamela Koch (Robert L.) of Tarkio, MO, Kyla Hemeyer (James) of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Rebekah Gebhards (Christopher), Elizabeth Clark (Mike), Mary Ruth Cox (Luke), Matthew Norman, Karla Wehmueller (Eric), Kirsti Parsons (Daniel), Trent Harrison (Katie), Kelly Curtis (Ron), Molly Adams (Brent); great-grandchildren, Allison, Brady, Maddie, Gabe, Emma, Eli, Zeke, Faith, Ephraim, Donna Joy, James, Jesse, Hosmer, Pax, Ava. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ruth (Miller) Norman; parents, Ora and Agnes Norman; brother, Robert Norman; sister, Mary Jane Atkinson.
The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m., on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO. Funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m., at the chapel. A committal service with full military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m., on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd, Leavenworth, KS.
