John William Moore, 86, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord on September 4, 2022. He was born March 25, 1936, the youngest son of R. Ernest and Jewell (Corn) Moore. He graduated from Grain Valley High School. He was united in marriage to Ruth Maxine Flaig on April 20, 1958, and they were married for 64 years.
John always worked hard and loved serving others. This made him successful as the owner of John Moore Oil Company, which is now on its third generation. He loved coming to the bulk plant daily to check on the business, work with his son and grandsons and to visit with the customers. He also enjoyed good food and good music (as long as it wasn’t too loud); and he loved spending time with his family. He spent countless hours at ballgames and sporting events supporting his grandsons and great grandkids, and other family members. A tradition has been carried on with the initials of JWM for John’s son, grandsons and great grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth M. Moore; daughter Rhonda Moore Helling and husband Dale; son Jeff W. Moore and wife Brenda; grandsons: Jacob Moore & wife Jennifer; Joshua Moore & wife Nicole; and four great grandchildren: Mila, James, John & Joanna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, S.E. Moore; and sisters, Zetta Rowland and Alma Williams.
A Funeral Service celebrating John’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove. Graveside Services and Burial will follow at the Salem Cemetery in Independence, MO. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions are suggested to the church. Arrangements entrusted with the Meyers Funeral Chapel of Blue Springs. Memories of John and condolences may be shared at meyersfuneralchapel.com.
To Ruth, Jeff and Rhonda and their families: JW was a sweet, sweet man. You are so fortunate to have such a loving husband and father. I know he will be sadly missed, but he is with the Lord. He has no aches now, just joy. Blessings to all of you.

God Bless you all and peace be with you.
Our deepest sympathies to John’s family….we feel blessed to have met John & Ruth while celebrating birthdays with the grandchildren! Rest in peace John.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. All the memories you have will become treasures and will help him to live on in your hearts forever.
Our condolences to the Moore family. My dad, Jack Masters, worked for John and Jeff for several years. I will always remember the year that John had snowmobiles; he brought them out to our farm on Cowherd Road. Oh what fun we had. I work in Blue Springs now and I think of everyone each time I see a John W. Moore Oil Co. Truck. Praying for peace and comfort for Mrs. Moore and the entire Moore family. -Stephanie and Danny Barker
