John ”Jack” W. Herndon, 78, of Grain Valley, MO passed away at home Friday May 20, 2016 surrounded in love by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel 1600 W. Main St. Blue Springs, MO. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Jack was born January 18, 1938 in Linn, MO the son of Arthur J. and Mildred (Weeks) Herndon. He married Jean (Kemmer) Herndon on April 12, 1958 who survives of the home. He worked for AT&T for 30 years and after retirement worked for American Century Investments as the Senior VP of Telecommunications Division. He was a member of the Elk’s Lodge for 30 years and an avid Chiefs and Tigers fan. His greatest love in life was coaching his children and coaching from the stands for his grandchildren. Jack and Jean also loved going to their Lake of the Ozark home having family and friends come to enjoy the lake life. If the grandchildren had a special event Jack was always there for them.
In addition to his wife Jean, he is survived by his daughters Kelly and Mark Prather of Blue Springs, MO, Cheryl and Ted Henson, and Stacy and Chad Hall all of Grain Valley, MO, brother Ralph and Dianne Herndon of Augusta, MO, grandchildren Casey, Jessie, Cory, Trevor, Quin, Skylar, and great-granddaughter Joslyn.
