John E. Huenefeld, Jr., 72, a Northland resident of Kansas City, MO passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the V.A. Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Jack was born September 26, 1948 to John E. and Virginia “Jenny” Rose (Wilson) Huenefeld, Sr. in Covington, KY. Jack graduated from Ft. Thomas Highland High School in KY; while attending high school he enjoyed playing sports especially football and baseball.
Jack was a veteran in the United States Air Force from 1967 – 1971 and served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. On August 29, 1968 Jack was united in marriage with Cynthia Ann Willis at Whiteman Air Force Base near Knob Noster, MO. Shortly after their wedding, Jack was deployed to Vietnam for one year November ’68 – November ’69. Returning home to Kentucky, Jack worked as a Structural Firefighter and Paramedic.
Jack and Cindy later moved to Missouri where he worked as a Federal Firefighter at Richards-Gebaur Air Reserve Station in Grandview, MO.
Jack will forever be remembered as a loving husband, Dad, brother and Papa Jack.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Huenefeld, and both parents. He is survived by his three sons: John Huenefeld; Justin Huenefeld and wife Heather; Jeff Huenefeld and wife Andrea Rose; eight wonderful grandchildren and one great grandchild; three brothers: Jim Huenefeld and wife Patty; Joe Huenefeld; and Jeff Huenefeld and wife, Pam.
A Committal Service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, September 20, 2021 at Leavenworth National Cemetery 150 Muncie Rd. Leavenworth, KS. Those attending the Committal Service will meet at 11:30 a.m., Monday, September 20, 2021 at Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville, MO where the Patriot Guard will be in attendance. To the Huenefeld family….I know you’ll miss Jack, yet keep his memory alive by sharing HIS stories. He was a smart and fun loving guy that invented a fun gun shooting golf game. I learned of his passing on a golf course and played the game in honor of him!

So, so sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. God bless the Huenefeld family as we know God is always with us. Jack will always be a great friend, a very knowledgeable firefighter and co-worker. We worked many fires and emergency responses together. His stories and pranks will be in my memories forever.

Jack was a good and caring brother Jack gave up a full ride scharlarship to Morehead State where younger brother later went on to excel as Jack would have for excelled . So sorry to hear that Jack passed away. I worked with Jack at the fire drpartment for several years. He was a tremendous firefighter and i will always remember his humor. Sure made those 24 hour shifts go fast. I will always remember Jack the night of the beverly hills supper club fire. We shared the ladder pipe operations that night. I have known Jack and his brothers since I was a little kid. He was a great guy, as all of them always were. To the Huenefeld family, please accept my heartfelt condolences.
