James “Jim” Lee Strope, 79, a resident of Grain Valley, MO passed away peacefully Saturday, February 25, 2023 at his home. He was born January 14, 1944 to Victor and Eileen (Volmer) Strope in Montrose, MO.
Jim served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Marlyn Sue Strope on October 12, 1973 in Kansas City, MO. Jim received his associate degree in accounting. He worked as a property tax consultant in Blue Springs for over 40 years. Jim was a member of the American Legion Post #499 and Elks Lodge #2509 both in Blue Springs. He had a passion for politics and enjoyed farming, driving his bobcat, playing poker, socializing, tinkering in his garage. Above all Jim cherished spending time with his family.
Survived by his wife, Marlyn Strope of Grain Valley, MO; daughters, Kimberly Bogue and husband Jeffery of Liberty, MO, Sheryl Fajen of Tuttle, OK; son, Jeffrey Gregory; grandchildren, Jeremy Fajen, Kayla Fajen, Jacob Fajen, Blake Gregory, Wesley Gregory; great-grandchildren, Amber Fajen, Ashlyn Fajen, Kenzley Fajen, Riley Fajen, Logan Fajen, Oliver Gregory, Margo Gregory. James was preceded in death by his first wife, Maudina “Dee” Wigton Strope; parents, Victor and Eileen Stope; brother, Larry Strope; daughter-in-law, Maria Gregory.
His family will celebrate Jim’s life from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2023 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO. I didn’t know Jim personally, however I know his daughter. I know of him through her. I know how much he was loved and respected by his daughter and his family. I know he will be missed. Prayers are with your family.
