He was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a Radio Repairman from November 2, 1948 to June 18, 1952 during the Korean Conflict. 1965 he worked for Air National Guard as an Air Craft Technician. Jim spent his working career as an aircraft mechanic for TWA in the Kansas City area; he retired on November 11, 1992.
Jim took pleasure in fishing at a quiet creek, river or lake. He also enjoyed looking for morel mushrooms, hunting and spending time outdoors.
Jim will be remembered as a devoted husband, wonderful father and grandpa. He was a man with a BIG heart, and loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survived by his wife, Hisako (Nonaka) Overy of Parkville, MO; daughter, Suzan Kibbey of Kansas City (North), MO; son, Andy Overy of Parkville, MO; three grandchildren: James, Cory and Sarah; and two sisters, Jackie Bowen of Oklahoma and Gloria Woerheide of Connecticut.
The family would like to thank all of Jim’s friends for all their love and support they have shown over the years and would like to express that, Jim loved you dearly.
A Gathering will be held to celebrate Jim’s life from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2015 at Meyers Northland Chapel, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO. Jim would want you to in lieu of flowers if you would like to please make memorial contributions to the Overy family.
