Reverend Jerry W. Craig, 73, of Blue Springs, MO went to be with his Eternal Father July 29, 2016. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Blue Springs Little Blue Parkway Campus. Burial to follow in Blue Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Church. A sharing of memories will be celebrated following the burial at the church. Online condolences in Rev. Jerry was born June 28, 1943 in San Pedro, CA, the son of Will Roy and Opal Oleta (Quaid) Craig. On March 24, 1964 he married Faneta L. Hendricks Craig who survives of the home. Rev. Jerry was a longtime pastor at the First Baptist Church of Blue Springs and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Bill Craig.
He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education in 1966, a Master’s Degree in Education in 1974, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree in 1978. Jerry served as Minister of Music, Youth, and Education in several churches in Oklahoma while in college and after graduation. He then served 6 years in Anchorage, Alaska before returning to serve again in Oklahoma. He was licensed to preach in 1961 in El Reno, Oklahoma before attending college, and Ordained to the Ministry at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1983. He came to First Baptist Church of Blue Springs in November 1985 as the Minister of Education. Later he was Associate Pastor, still ministering in many areas of the Church. He was a leader of the Special Peoples Ministry, Senior Adult Ministry, Homebound Ministry, Impact Ministry, and Rachel House. He had a heart for missions which he demonstrated by leading many groups on Mission Trips all over the United States, Mexico and Ethiopia.
In addition to his wife Faneta he is survived by a son David W. Craig and wife Lisa, daughters Martha L. Craig and Deborah A. Jackson and husband Everett, grandchildren Trevor and Abigail Craig, Monet, Evan and Lauren Jackson, and Matt Worrell.
Jerry was a loving husband, father, and friend. He was always there to help anyone. He always had a story to tell and kept us laughing.
