Charlotte “Jean” Hyde, 91, a resident of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully Friday, December 2, 2022 at the University Health Lakewood Care Center in Kansas City, MO. She was born March 3, 1931 to Ernest and Vera (Conkright) Ewing in Kansas City, MO.
Jean is a 1949 graduate from Paseo High School in Kansas City, MO. She was united in marriage to George B. Hyde on April 18, 1951. Jean attended Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs. She was a home maker and stayed home to raise her daughters, Jeanette and Kathleen.
After her girls were in school, she worked many part time jobs, but she mostly worked alongside and supported her husband as he managed theatres in Kansas, Wyoming, and Colorado. They moved from Kansas to Colorado because of their daughter’s asthma issues. Until they bought their own theatre in Saratoga, WY. They both worked running the theatre for several years before retiring and moving to Texas. Following George’s cancer diagnoses they moved to Independence to be close to family. Jean and George were both Christians and no matter where they lived, they always attended a church.
Jean was a very caring person and was always there to help whenever needed. She loved playing cards. She always had a small dog, until she moved into an apartment where she got “Grace” her beautiful white Himalayan cat. Jean lived at Woods Chapel Lodge from 1997 until 2021 when she moved to Waterford Ladies Home.
Survived by her daughters, Jeanette Erikson (Steve) of Seven point, TX, Kathleen Hyde (Beth) of Lindley, NY; sister, Janell Gramlich of Blue Springs, MO; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren. Jean is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Mavis Gippner.
Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO.
