James “Jim” Alton Roberts, 86, a resident of Lake Tapawingo, MO passed away peacefully Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO. He was born July 10, 1936 to C.A. and Ruth (Johnson) Roberts in Benson, NC.
Jim graduated High School in 1955 and then began a 20 year career with the United States Army which he was honorably discharged, as a Chief Warrant Officer. Following his retirement from the United States Army Jim started another 20 year career with the Department of Defense as a maintenance specialist. Jim was united in marriage to Christine Le Fors on February 18, 1986 in Basel, Switzerland. During this time he received his Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Maryland. He was a member of the Blue Springs VFW. Jim enjoyed taking photos and traveling. He cherished spending time with his family and friends.
Survived by his loving wife Christine Roberts of Lake Tapawingo, MO; children, Michael Roberts (Marilyn) of Vancouver, WA; Angela Williams (David) of Olathe, KS; grandchildren, Alex Roberts, Gennie Bell (Andrew), Justin Williams (Amy), Brittany Reinke (Keven); great-grandchildren, Micah, Shelby, Brenna, Aidan, Ben, Leo, Miles; siblings, William Roberts (Margarette) of Navarre Beach, FL, Peyton Roberts (Dorothy) South Island, NC, Vivian Spoors of St. Johns, MI, Durwood Roberts of Smithville, NC. Jim is preceded in death by a daughter, Veronica Searcy; parents, C.A. and Ruth Roberts, sister, Patsy Young; brother, Carlton Roberts.
His family will receive family and friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2022 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St., Blue Springs, MO. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel. A private committal service will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS.
