Funeral arrangements for 75-year-old James Duren have been set for Thursday, August 24, 2023. His family will receive family and friends from 10:30 – 12:00 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO. Funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the chapel. A committal service with full military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
James Allen Duren, 75, a resident of Oak Grove, MO passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO. He was born June 1, 1948 to Forrest and Rhea (Meeks) Duren in Paris, AR. He was a 1966 graduate of East High School in Kansas City, MO. James served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Carmen Mojica on February 14, 1970 in Kansas City, MO. James spent the majority of his working career as a welder for the General Motors Fairfax plant in Kanas City, MO. He was an avid Kansas City Royals and Chiefs fan, who enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, camping, and reading his Bible. Above all James cherished spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carmen Duren of Oak Grove, MO; daughters, Denise Thomas of Kansas City, MO, Diane Tolie and husband Chris of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Christina Duren of Blue Springs, MO; siblings, Tommy Duren and wife Tami of Belton, MO, Mary Stradford of Grandview, MO, Steven Duren and wife Sheila of Bella Vista, AR, Ruth Fitzjurls and husband Mike of Magazine, AR; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. James is preceded in death by his parents; Forrest and Rhea Duren; siblings, Paul Dean Duren, Patricia Duren; Bedford Duren.
