James D. Curtis Jr., 69, a resident of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away peacefully Monday, December 2, 2019 at John Knox Village Care Center in Lee’s Summit, MO. He was born February 15, 1950 to James Sr. and Charlene (Rice) Curtis in Kansas City, MO.
James was united in marriage to Deborah Clayton on April 11, 1998 in Eureka Springs, AR. He spent 24 years as a car salesman in the Kansas City area, finishing his career as a manager of a car dealership in Raytown, MO. James was a member of Sheffield Family Life Center in Kansas City, MO. He enjoyed his Bible study, fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Deborah Curtis of Lee’s Summit, MO; children, Richard A. Curtis (Julie) of Blue Springs, MO, Michelle Brown of Independence, MO, James L. Curtis of Independence, MO, Sasha Smith (Matt) of Topeka, KS; step-children, Brian Clayton (Sabrina) of Kearney, MO, Jeremy Clayton of Lee’s Summit, MO, Michael Clayton of Lee’s Summit, MO; 14 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Susan Simonsen (Mike) of Mission Vajo, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jamie Curtis; siblings, Linda, Madeline, Claude, Stella.
A celebration of James’s life will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2019 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, 1600 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO. Memories of James and words of comfort for his family may be shared at meyersfuneralchapel.com.
